What it does, and what it does not
Fractional CO2 works by making controlled micro-columns of injury in the skin, leaving the tissue in between untouched so healing is faster. The repair response rebuilds collagen underneath the scar, which gradually lifts indented areas and evens texture.
It works best on rolling and boxcar scars. Narrow, deep ice-pick scars respond least to laser alone and often need a different approach first. Flat red or brown marks left by old breakouts are not scars at all — they fade on their own and do not need a laser.
Downtime — read this before booking
Expect the treated skin to be red and to feel sunburnt for two to three days, followed by fine flaking and a sandpaper texture for roughly five to seven days. Makeup goes back on once the flaking has finished, not before.
Strict sun avoidance for the following weeks is not optional. Skin that has just been resurfaced pigments easily, and a tan on healing skin is how a good result turns into a dark patch.
Do not book this in the week before a wedding, a shoot or a flight somewhere sunny.
How many sessions
Scar work is slow. Improvement builds across sessions spaced roughly a month apart, and collagen keeps remodelling for months after the last one — the result at three months is better than the result at three weeks.
The honest framing is percentage improvement, not erasure. A well-run course softens scars substantially; it does not return the skin to how it was before the acne.

How much downtime should I plan for?
Two to three days of redness and heat, then five to seven days of fine flaking. Most people book it at the start of a quiet week.
Does it work on ice-pick scars?
Least of all the scar types. Narrow deep scars usually need a different technique before laser resurfacing is worth doing, and we will say so rather than sell you a course that will disappoint.
I have dark marks, not indents. Do I need this?
Probably not. Flat brown or red marks are post-inflammatory pigment, and they fade without a laser — sunscreen and time do most of the work.
Can I do this in summer?
You can, but only if you are genuinely able to stay out of the sun during recovery. If your plans involve a beach, wait.
