When is Scartherapy a good fit?
Different kinds of scars in the same area, which are hard to treat with a single technique.

You need to switch or add techniques to suit your scar type.
Please see a dermatologist first if: you are taking oral acne medication or stopped less than 6 months ago; your skin is infected or has fluid-filled bumps or blisters; you have an open wound or recent sunburn; you have had a peel, laser or microneedling in the past 2 weeks; or inflamed acne is spreading and very painful. Let CHAMING know in advance if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
What happens in a session?
- Skin analysis and consultation
Our doctor analyses your skin and identifies your scar type and skin condition to choose a combination of techniques for you. If your skin is infected or has a lesion that needs a doctor's assessment, you'll be advised to get it checked first.
- Cleansing and disinfection
Make-up removal, cleansing and thorough disinfection of the scarred area.
- Combining scar techniques
Depending on the scar type, the doctor uses one or more techniques in the session, treating both the base of the scar and the skin surface around it where needed.
- Soothing and recovery
The treated area is soothed and covered with a thin layer of repairing moisturiser.
- Home care advice and your next appointment
The doctor explains how to care for your skin tonight and over the following days. Your skin needs about 5 to 7 days to recover, and pitted scars need a course of several sessions, so your next session will be booked.
Aftercare
Tonight: before bed, pat an antiseptic solution onto your skin, leave it for 1 minute, then wipe it off with saline. Apply a thin layer of hydrating or repairing serum, wait 10 minutes, then use any topical medication exactly as directed by the doctor (if you have been given one).
For the next 3 days: don't use a cleanser yet. Morning and evening, pat antiseptic solution onto your skin for 1 minute, wipe with saline, then apply hydrating or repairing serum and wait 10 minutes. Limit activities that make you sweat a lot.
For the first week: skip sunscreen so you don't need to use make-up remover in the evening, as rubbing can strip away the new skin. Instead, cover up very well when you go out. Pause targeted products such as retinol and retinoids.
