Getting acne treated in Hanoi: what a course involves

· 8 min read

An acne course is not one appointment. It is a series spread over weeks, built around how skin renews itself, and the first visible change is often skin looking slightly worse before it looks better. Knowing that in advance is what stops people abandoning a course two weeks in.

Skin is easier to judge in person. The consultation is free and there is no obligation to book a course.

First: what kind of acne do you have?

Clogged pores, blackheads and small bumps behave differently from red, inflamed, painful spots, and both behave differently from the deep, slow cysts along the jaw that flare on a monthly cycle. They are not stages of the same thing and they do not respond to the same approach.

This is why the first session anywhere sensible is a look at your skin under magnification rather than a treatment. If somewhere sells you a ten-session package before anyone has looked closely, that is a sales process, not a plan.

How a course is usually spaced

Skin cells take roughly a month to work their way to the surface, so sessions are commonly set one to two weeks apart and judged over a couple of months rather than a couple of visits. Mild congestion often settles in three or four sessions. Persistent inflamed acne takes longer, and the honest answer at the start is a range rather than a number.

Between sessions matters as much as the sessions. What you use at home, whether you finish a course of anything prescribed to you, sleep and stress all move the result — and none of that is under a therapist's control.

Why skin can look worse first

Anything that speeds up cell turnover brings existing congestion to the surface sooner. Spots that were going to appear over the following month appear over the following week instead. It is short-lived, but it is the point where people give up.

A studio that warns you about this beforehand is being straight with you. One that promises smooth skin after a single facial is not.

When acne needs more than skincare

Most acne responds to consistent skincare: cleansing, extraction, peels, light and device-based sessions, and a routine you actually keep to. That covers what the majority of people walk in with.

Deep cystic acne that is painful and leaving scars is a different problem. It usually needs prescription medication, which means a licensed medical facility. If that is what you are dealing with, say so at the first consultation — a straight answer about what will and will not help is worth more than a course that was never going to be enough.

What it costs

Single sessions and courses are both common. CHAMING publishes every price on the site rather than quoting only in person, so you can compare before booking. The consultation itself, including the skin scan, is free and carries no obligation to buy a course.

Practical notes for a first visit in Hanoi

  • Come with a bare face if you can — makeup has to come off anyway.
  • Bring, or photograph, anything you are currently using on your skin, including anything prescribed at home.
  • Say if you are on isotretinoin or have been in the last six months. It changes what is safe to do.
  • Allow a little more time than the treatment itself for the consultation on a first visit.

Common questions

How many sessions will I need for acne?

It depends on the type. Mild congestion often settles within three or four sessions; persistent inflamed acne usually needs longer and is reviewed as it goes. Anyone giving you an exact number before looking at your skin is guessing.

Is treatment in Hanoi safe for skin that is not used to the climate?

Yes, with the usual caveat that heat, humidity and sun change how skin behaves. Tell the team how long you have been in Vietnam and what changed since you arrived — it is genuinely useful information for planning a course.

Can I do a course while travelling in and out of Vietnam?

Sessions spaced a week or two apart work best, so tell us your dates up front. If you are here for a short period we will say honestly what is realistic in that window rather than sell you a course you cannot finish.

Do you speak English?

Yes, an English-speaking member of the team is on every shift. Book online and we will call to confirm, or send a message on Facebook.
