What happens in a session?
- Checking the area
Your therapist checks the hair and skin under both arms. Let them know if the skin is grazed or irritated, or if you've recently waxed or plucked, so they can take this into account before starting.
- Cleansing and shaving the underarms
Your therapist cleanses, dries and shaves both underarms before treatment, so there's no need to shave at home.
- Treating both underarms
Your therapist moves the cooled handpiece over one underarm, then the other. It's a small area, so this part is quick; if it feels sensitive, just say so and your therapist will adjust the energy level.
- Soothing, aftercare advice and your next appointment
Your therapist soothes the underarms, explains how to care for them at home and books your next session. Sessions are short, but you still need a full course because hair grows in cycles.
Aftercare
For the first 2 hours after your session: don't shower yet, and keep your underarms dry.
For the first 24 hours: don't apply deodorant, shower gel or moisturiser to the treated area.
Throughout the course: never shave, wax, pluck or use hair removal cream at home, as this can easily leave your underarm skin inflamed, infected or irritated. CHAMING will shave the treatment area for you at every session. Come to your next appointment as scheduled to get the best results from your course.

Frequently asked questions
How many sessions will I need?
Hair grows in cycles, so each session can only reach the follicles that are in their active growth phase — which is why the treatment is done as a course, with sessions a few weeks apart. The exact number of sessions depends on the area, your body and how thick the hair is; CHAMING will discuss this after seeing the area in person.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe it as a light flick of a rubber band. Thinner skin is more sensitive; just say so straight away and your therapist will adjust the energy level.
How should I prepare for a session?
You don't need to shave yourself: your CHAMING therapist will cleanse and shave the treatment area right before the session. Beforehand, simply avoid waxing, plucking, or applying cream or deodorant to the area, and stay out of the sun for a few days.
Will laser hair removal clear underarm darkening?
Underarm darkening is mainly caused by friction and long-term shaving or waxing. Once you stop shaving, the skin is less irritated, but laser hair removal is not a treatment for darkening — if that concerns you, talk to CHAMING about a separate approach.
