Facials in Hanoi: what to expect and what to ask

· 6 min read

The word facial covers two quite different things: an hour designed to feel good, and a session designed to change something about your skin. Both are legitimate. Booking the first while expecting the second is why people leave disappointed.

Skin is easier to judge in person. The consultation is free and there is no obligation to book a course.

Two kinds, sold under one word

A relaxation facial is about the experience: warm towels, massage, pleasant textures, and skin that looks fresher for a day or two. Judge it on how the hour felt.

A working session is aimed at something specific — congestion, dullness, dehydration, barrier damage — and is usually less pleasant in the moment. Extraction is not relaxing. Judge it over weeks, not on the drive home.

Neither is better. Ask which one you are buying, because the price is often similar and the outcome is not.

What a working session usually includes

If extraction leaves your face red for the rest of the day every time, it is being pushed too hard rather than done thoroughly.

  • A look at the skin, ideally under magnification, before anything is chosen.
  • Cleansing, then softening the surface so pores can be cleared without force.
  • Extraction where it is needed, which should stop before skin is traumatised.
  • Something calming afterwards, and sun protection before you walk out.

How often is sensible

Skin renews over roughly a month, so monthly is the common rhythm for maintenance. Congested skin at the start of a plan is often seen more frequently for a short block, then spaced out.

Weekly facials indefinitely are rarely necessary and can leave the barrier worse than it started. A place that pushes for frequency without explaining why is selling capacity, not results.

In Hanoi specifically

Heat and humidity mean more sweat and more congestion, so people often need working sessions here that they never needed at home. The flip side is sun: anything that resurfaces or exfoliates leaves skin more vulnerable, and Hanoi's ultraviolet stays high for much of the year. Sunscreen afterwards is part of the treatment, not an upsell.

If you ride a motorbike, mention it. Helmet straps and masks hold sweat against the jaw and chin, and that changes where congestion sits.

Questions worth asking when booking

  • Is this session aimed at relaxation or at a specific skin problem?
  • Does the price include the consultation, and is it published?
  • Will there be extraction, and how will my skin look afterwards?
  • What should I avoid for the next day or two?
  • Is an English-speaking member of the team on the shift I am booking?

Common questions

How much does a facial cost in Hanoi?

It varies widely by what is included. CHAMING publishes the full price list on the site so you can see what each session covers before booking.

How often should I get a facial?

Monthly suits most people for maintenance, since skin renews over about a month. Congested skin may start more frequently for a short period and then space out.

Will my face be red afterwards?

Mild redness for a few hours is normal after extraction. All-day redness every time means it is being pushed too hard.

Can I have a facial before an event?

Book a gentle, hydrating session several days ahead rather than the day before, and avoid extraction close to an important date.
