Is this the right treatment for you?

Not everyone needs it. At the consultation the doctor asks how much you sweat, when, and what is behind any odour, then tells you whether this is the right route.

If you sweat heavily all over your body, or the sweating started suddenly, ask your own doctor about medical causes first.

What the session is like

The underarms are cleansed and disinfected, then the treatment itself takes about 20 to 30 minutes for both sides, inside a visit booked for an hour. You feel a light pricking. There are no cuts and no time off needed, so you can go back to work or class afterwards.

A follow-up check is booked for about two weeks later. Most of the change shows by then, and the doctor looks at it with you.

After the session

For the first 24 hours we ask you to avoid hot showers, saunas and hard exercise, and not to massage your underarms. Sweating eases over the first days, with the clearest difference after about one to two weeks.

The result is temporary and varies from person to person, usually several months. When the sweating returns you can have the treatment again, and the doctor explains this before you start.

Who it suits

It suits people for whom sweating is a daily nuisance and products on the skin do not keep them dry for long.

• Underarms that go damp within minutes, even in an air-conditioned room
• Frequent yellow stains, so you avoid light-coloured tops
• Still damp despite using deodorant

When it is better to wait

Some antibiotics and muscle relaxants can strengthen the effect, so tell us about every medicine you take.

Tell us first, and expect to be asked to wait, if any of these apply:

• You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Your underarm skin is infected, inflamed or has a wound.
• You have a condition that affects your muscles or nerves, such as myasthenia gravis.
